As we begin a new week, there are several new movies and shows coming to OTT platforms and cinemas. From Taapsee Pannu-backed Dhak Dhak to the period crime thriller Sultan of Delhi, these genre-bending titles provide a variety of entertainment options for the week. 1. Past Lives – Lionsgate Play
Greta Lee and Teo Yoo come together for filmmaker Celine Song’s romantic drama, Past Lives. The movie revolves around two childhood friends: Nora and Hae Sung who are separated when the former’s parents decide to move to another country. Many years later, the two meet once again and grapple with the choices that shaped their lives.
2. The Conference – Netflix
The Conference is a horror thriller drama that centres around a group of public sector employees whose fun retreat takes a deadly turn when they become the ultimate target of a bloodthirsty killer. Arriving on Netflix this week, the movie stars Katia Winter, Adam Lundgren, and Eva Melander in significant roles.
3. Everybody Loves Diamonds – Amazon Prime Video
Everybody Loves Diamonds is another fascinating option that arrives this Friday, along with The Burial, Dhak Dhak, Lessons in Chemistry, and more. Inspired by the infamous 2003 Antwerp Diamond Heist, the upcoming series focuses on a group of thieves who come up with a plan to steal precious stones worth millions from a highly secured facility.
4. Dumb Money – Theatres
Based on Ben Mezrich’s 2021 book The Antisocial Network, Dumb Money is a biographical drama that tells the tale of a financial analyst whose life is upended when the stocks he bought with his savings help him earn a lot of money while the CEO loses millions. The ensemble cast of the Craig Gillespie directorial features Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, Nick Offerman, and Seth Rogen among others. Other notable movies releasing in cinemas this week are Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie and Dhak Dhak.
5. Prema Vimanam – ZEE5
Directed by Santosh Kata, Prema Vimanam is a Telugu romantic drama that focuses on two best friends who dream of boarding a flight one day. The story takes an interesting twist when a young couple who plan to start a new life together crosses paths with the two best friends. The drama that unfolds next forms the main plot of the movie. The movie stars Devansh Nama, Anirudh Nama, Sangeet Shobhan, Saanvee Megghana, and Anasuya Bharadwaj in prominent roles.
6. The Burial – Amazon Prime Video
Inspired by real-life events, The Burial is a legal drama that stars Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones in lead roles. The show follows a funeral homeowner who finds himself in a complicated situation. In an attempt to save his family business, he forges an unlikely alliance with a lawyer to expose the crimes of a big corporation.
7. Ijogbon – Netflix
Adding to the list of new releases apart from Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Dhak Dhak, The Conference and more is Ijogbon. Set in a remote village in the Southwest region of Nigeria, the coming-of-age drama follows a group of teenagers who land themselves in trouble when they stumble upon a pouch of uncut diamonds and decide to hide it. What will happen when the others come looking for it?
8. Shantit Kranti Season 2 – SonyLIV
Lalit Prabhakar, Abhay Mahajan, and Alok Rajwade reprise their roles in the new season of Shantit Kranti. Created by Sarang Sathaye and Paula McGlynn, the new season of the comedy Marathi drama revolves around the trio who embark on a bachelor’s trip only to run into fresh new unexpected challenges.
9. Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie – Theatres
A sequel to the 2021 film PAW Patrol: The Movie, the upcoming Cal Brunker directorial continues to focus on PAW Patrol pups who transform into mighty pups with superpowers from pups’ crystals. Watch them team up to stop Mayor Humdinger and his accomplice Victoria Vance from creating chaos in the city. The animated movie will lock horns with Dhak Dhak and Dumb Money at the box office this week.
10. Lessons in Chemistry – Apple TV+
Brie Larson teams up with Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, and Stephanie Koenig for Apple TV’s new series, Lessons in Chemistry. Set in the ’60s, the upcoming series delves into the life of a young woman who aspires to become a scientist in a male-dominated society. When she loses her job in the laboratory, she takes up the role of a TV cooking show. However, she turns the table around by using the program as a medium to teach scientific lessons to housewives.
11. Dhak Dhak – Theatres
Backed by Taapsee Pannu, Dhak Dhak is a highly anticipated movie with an all-female cast that includes Fatima Sana Sheikh, Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, and Sanjana Sanghi in prominent roles. Helmed by Tarun Dudeja, the movie (Dhak Dhak) revolves around four brave women who embark on a road trip with the aim of reaching the world’s highest motorable pass Khardung.
12. Sultan of Delhi – Disney+ Hotstar
Based on Arnab Ray’s book Sultan of Delhi: Ascension, Disney+ Hotstar’s new series Sultan of Delhi revolves around a young man Arjun Bhatia who emerges as the next big name in the world of illegal arms dealing. Will he succeed in fulfilling his dream of gaining the title of Sultan Of Delhi? The series stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Vinay Pathak, Anupriya Goenka, Mouni Roy, Anjumm Shharma, Harleen Sethi and Mehreen Pirzada.
