Neighbours star Rebekah Elmaloglou moved to rural NSW after the soap was cancelled – only for Amazon to revive it four months later
Neighbours actress Rebekah Elmaloglou has revealed that the recent revival of the beloved soap overturned her life in more ways than one.
The 49-year-old, who has played the character of Terese Willis on the show since 2013, headed off to a new life in country NSW after the show was axed last year.
But after learning of the show’s miraculous revival, Rebekah says she did not hesitate to pack up to return to Neighbours home-base in Melbourne for Amazon’s reboot.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Thursday the beloved Neighbours stalwart said that was a ‘bit annoyed’ about the domestic upheaval.
The mother of two had elected to move to the mid-north coast with her husband Kane Baker and son Kai to be closer to her mum and dad.

Rebekah made an independent film and did a few auditions but the break from Neighbours turned out to be months of ‘down time’.
‘We were just grieving,’ she said over show’s axing.
‘I was very much like “I don’t care if I’m not working at the moment.” So I never got that far into thinking “What if there’s no work out there for me?”,’ she added.
But she was thrilled to be be back on the Ramsay Street set in Nunwading in suburban Melbourne.
Rebekah also teased that viewers can look forward to a new ‘bigger’, glossier Neighbours than the one fans have been used to because of their backing from streaming giant Amazon.
News of Neighbours’ axing made world headlines in March 2022, when Channel 10 and producers Fremantle announced the show would be ending after 37 years.
But heartbroken fans were given relief just four months after the last episode screened in July, when Amazon elected to reboot the famed soap.

It comes after the all-star series finale of Neighbours win the television ratings for the first time in more than a decade last July.
Meanwhile, the Neighbours reboot will air on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US and will include streaming rights to thousands of episodes from previous seasons.
The series will stream on Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
Channel 10 will debut Neighbours at 4:30pm on Monday September 18, with the Amazon Prime premiere set for September 25.
