J&K Shocker! How 27 Men Got Married To The Same Woman: ‘Nobody Knows Her Real Name’

Srinagar: More than 27 men were married to the same woman in Jammu and Kashmir at different times only to know later that they were conned and looted of money. The woman, who defrauded more than two dozen men from Kashmir, married them through a middleman and escaped their house after staying there for a few days.

The incident came to light when several men approached the police to file a missing complaint for their wife. Cops were taken aback as all of them showed photograph of same woman. The new drew attention of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who tweeted, “Sounds like a Netflix show – “The scam came to light when more than 12 men filed missing complaints for their wives at the local police station, only to realize they all had photographs of the same woman.”

A man from Budgam’s Khan Sahib revealed how he met the woman and got robbed. He was approached by a marriage broker who showed him the photographs of a Rajouri woman for his son.

“My son has some physical issues. A local middleman approached me saying that he would get my son married and all I needed to do was pay him two lakhs,” Abdul Ahad Mir told The Kashmiriyat.

How Dozens Of Men Were Conned

While the family got busy looking for hotel rooms, the middle man kept dilly dallying the marriage and after a few days he returned half of the money saying the girl had met with an accident. A few hours later, the broker showed him photos of another girl and demanded the money back.

“When we agreed to marry, the woman was brought around Isha time (night prayers),” said Abdul Ahad Mir. The family returned to Kashmir the same night.

After a few days, the girl went asked her husband to take her to hospital for checkup and when he went to get the hospital ticket, the girl fled. The father of one of the victims said they had given Rs 3,80,000 as well as gold worth more than five lakhs as the Mehr (guarantee) for the woman.

Another victim’s family was approached by a middle man who showed them the photo of the woman around night time and the wedding happened the same night.

“She was at home only for ten days in Chadoora Budgam, however, after that she fled from the hospital,” a victim’s brother Rashid said.

Forged Documents, Fake Name

Mohammed Altaf Mir, a resident of Budgam in central Kashmir said that he too was married to the woman. “They have forged their documents. They do not show their real names to anyone. She vanished from the house during the dark of the night with everything that was inside the house,” Altaf said while speaking to The Kashmiriyat.

The lawyer representing them claimed that the racket is big and there are many people involved in it. “There are several people who have been looted by this woman and other in the gang. On the marriage documents he name appears to be Zaheen, Ilayas and Shaheena, but nobody knows her real name,” he said. In Budgam only, she has married at least twenty seven (27) men with the help of the brokers.
