Get ready to enter the dark and twisted world of Black Mirror once again, as Netflix has announced that Season 6 of the hit series is set to return in June.
The show, created and written by Charlie Brooker, boasts an impressive lineup of top acting talent for this season, including Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, and Salma Hayek Pinault, among others. The new addition on the production side is “Ms. Marvel” showrunner Bisha K. Ali, who is among the show’s executive producers, alongside Brooker, long-time producing partner Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhoades.
This season marks a departure from the show’s traditional standalone format, with Brooker breaking his own rules for the new episodes. According to Brooker, Season 6 follows a new model, with “the most unpredictable, unclassifiable and unexpected” stories yet. This time, he deliberately upended some of his own assumptions about what to expect, adding new elements to stretch the parameters of what a Black Mirror episode can be.
Despite the changes, Brooker assures fans that the stories are still tonally ‘Black Mirror’ through-and-through, but have some “crazy swings and more variety” than ever before.
Variety first revealed in May 2022 that “Black Mirror” was coming back after a three-year hiatus. With each episode being treated as an individual film, this season promises to be even more cinematic in scope. The show, which began life on U.K. broadcaster Channel 4, has since become a global sensation on the streamer, winning multiple awards for its big-budget, celebrity-laden episodes.
If you’re a fan of the show, mark your calendars for June, as Black Mirror is set to return and take you on a wild and unpredictable ride.
